Body & Soul; A Jazz Tribute to Billie Holiday
Posted in Music
On a hot, sultry evening, Brighton’s jazz vocalist Edana Minghella played tribute to the queen of jazz, Lady Day. The venue was full to overflowing and the audience were transported back to the 1930s with Billie’s ballads, including ‘God Bless the Child’ and ‘Don’t Explain’.
In between sets, Edana interacted with the audience, giving an insightful, thought provoking view into Billie Holliday’s journey to fame and early death at the age of 44. The musicians, including Sarah Bolter who played both saxophone and flute, completed what was a magical event.
